第80回アカデミー賞（オスカー）の授賞式が2008年2月24日、午後8時（全米東部時間＝日本時間2月25日午前10時）から行われた。事前の予想通り、今年のメイン「ノー・カントリー」が最優秀映画、助演男優賞、監督賞、脚色賞の4部門を獲得した。また主演女優と助演女優の両方にノミネートという快挙を成し遂げているケイト・ブランシェットはどちらも獲得ならずだった。
ソウル・サーチャーのオスカー予想は4年目。77回、78回はそれぞれ10部門（本命7・対抗3）、9部門（本命7・対抗2）で予想し本命・対抗で10割、昨年は24部門全部の予想をして本命で13、対抗で8、はずれが3の.875の的中率。今年は主要10部門で本命で8、対抗で1、はずれが1の9割。しかし全部門では24部門中、本命で13、対抗で4、はずれが7部門の7割8厘と若干ふるわなかった。主要部門ではずれた1部門はもっともむずかしかった助演女優賞。ケイト、エイミー、ティルダの三つ巴で最終的にティルダになった。
