ヴェテランR&B、ブルーズ･シンガー、エタ･ジェー スが７月末に­スアンジェルスのシーダース・サイナイ病院に入院した。これは、去る６月­旬に腹部の手術をした結果、容態が悪くなり再入院したもの。現在は、容態は安定しており、８月末には退院できるのではないかと見られている。<br>
エタ･ジェー スは、今月からBB­ング、アル･グリーンらとのツアーが予定されていたが、エタに代わってシャカ･カーンが参 することになった。<br>
医師は、「もちろん、ツアーに戻るのは彼女の判­ が、実際ツアーに戻るのは、かなり危険 」と­告している。<br>
エタ･ジェー スは１９３８年１月生まれの６９­。白人とのハーフ。母親は１６­のときにエタを生ん 。父親は、後に母親がエタに語ったところによると、１９３０年代以降全米をまたにかけ活躍した有名なビリヤード･プレイヤー、ミネソタ･ファッツ という。<br>
エタのソウルフルな­唱は、のちにジャニス･ジョプリンに大きな影響を与え、ジャニスをして「あなたのように­いたい」と言わせた。<br>
最新作は２００６年にリリースされた『オール・ザ・ウェイ』。<br>
１９９２年８月に来日して公演もしている。<br>
