46th Grammy Nominations Dominated By R&B, Hip-Hop Acts
候補。

第46回グラミー賞のノミネートがNARASから発表された。今年は全31分野(フィールド)、105部門(カテゴリー)でそれぞれに該当するアーティスト、作品などがノミネートされている。グラミー賞は、今年度からスケジュールが前年までより一月ほどくりあげられ、ノミネート発表、授賞式ともに例年よりはやくなっている。これはアカデミー賞の発表が3月に前倒しになった影響を受けてのもの。グラミー賞は2004年2月8日、ロスアンジェルスのステイプル・センターで発表される。中継はCBSが担当。

今年のグラミー賞の最大の特色は、R&B、ヒップ・ホップ系のアーティストが多数ノミネートされている点。これまでもそれぞれの専門分野でのノミネートはあったが、一般分野におけるこれほどの浸透ぶりは初めてのもの。今年の最多ノミネートは6部門で、ビヨンセ、ジェイZ、アウトキャスト、ネプチューンズのファレル・ウィリアムスとすべてR&B、ヒップホップ系。この他5部門ノミネートが,ミッシー・エリオット、エミネム、エヴァネセンス、50(フィフティー)セント、ネプチューンのチャド・ヒューゴ、リッキー・スキャッグス、ジャスティン・ティンバーレイク、ルーサー・ヴァンドロス、故ウォーレン・ジヴォンらとやはりR&B、ヒップホップ系が圧倒的な強さを見せている。
